Treating this as "Impinj or Zebra" is usually the wrong framing - they are complementary as often as competitive, and many Zebra readers contain Impinj reader chips.
The real questions are: do you need handhelds and label printing (then Zebra is in the picture regardless),
and do you have the integration muscle to assemble best-of-breed (which favours an Impinj-centric stack)? Pick by operating model and total system fit, not by which logo wins a spec-sheet duel.
And remember the tags and the read-point engineering, not the brand, decide whether a Passive RFID deployment actually hits its accuracy target.

Impinj is a RAIN RFID platform company: endpoint ICs (M700/M800 families), reader silicon, R700 readers with stronger edge compute generations, Gen2X feature toolbox, and IoT Device Interface (REST/OpenAPI alongside LLRP). Zebra is an enterprise device company: FX9600 and ATR7000 fixed readers, RFD40/RFD90 sleds, mobile computers, RFID printers and encoders, plus device management — and often Impinj-class silicon inside the radio. They are complementary as often as competitive.
