Do we engage with Semtech directly?

Rarely. Enterprise LoRaWAN procurement is about device, network and platform suppliers. Semtech silicon is universal.

Is LoRa proprietary?

The physical-layer modulation is Semtech IP. The network-layer LoRaWAN protocol is open via the LoRa Alliance. The two together form the standard.

LoRaWAN or cellular LPWAN (NB-IoT, LTE-M)?

Depends on coverage, device cost, network ownership preference and update frequency. We evaluate both per use case in stage 1.

Does LR1110 replace traditional LoRa transceivers?

No — LR1110 adds GNSS and Wi-Fi sniffing for hybrid localisation alongside LoRa. Useful for tracking applications combining outdoor (GNSS) and indoor (Wi-Fi RSSI) position.
