Italy industries we cover
Manufacturing: northern Italian automotive and industrial corridors, food and manufacturing plants.
Healthcare: SSN and private healthcare networks.
Logistics and 3PL: container ports (Genoa, Trieste, Gioia Tauro), 3PL networks, e-commerce fulfilment, cold chain.
Defence: defence and public-sector facilities and contractors.
Retail: apparel item-level, grocery DCs, store operations.
Energy and utilities: energy and utilities sites across Italy.
Regulatory and compliance fit
Italy locating programmes have specific regulatory considerations. CE marking under the EU Radio Equipment Directive. Hardware must also respect the ETSI power limits for the band in use. Healthcare data and privacy: GDPR plus the Italian data protection code, supervised by the Garante, when location feeds touch clinical systems.
Article 4 of the Statuto dei Lavoratori (Law 300/1970): this is the one that catches programmes out. A system capable of monitoring workers, even incidentally, needs a prior union agreement or authorisation from the Ispettorato Nazionale del Lavoro. D.Lgs. 81/2008 on workplace health and safety, overlaps with lone-worker and restricted-zone deployments.
ACN guidance and NIS2 as transposed in Italy, increasingly required for public-sector and supply-chain procurements. We design for these in stage 1. See GDPR & RTLS: the employee-tracking question.
Italy suppliers and integrators
Most global RTLS, RFID and AGV/AMR suppliers have Italy presence directly or through resellers and integrators. Suppliers with a strong Italy presence include Impinj, Zebra, Honeywell (RFID); Quuppa, Aruba (BLE-AoA); Sewio, Ubisense (UWB, with Ubisense headquartered in Cambridge); MIR, Geek+ (AMR).
How we engage with Italy clients
Remote scoping engagements run from anywhere. Stage 1 rarely needs on-site visits. For stage 2 (pilot) and stage 3 (production rollout), we visit regularly.
We coordinate with your chosen suppliers and integrators for deployments spanning Italy and continental Europe. Engagements run from 4-week scoping reviews to multi-year programme guidance.
Italy-specific case studies
Programmes span the UK, DACH and wider Europe, the Middle East, North America and APAC (hospital-scale asset and hygiene, automotive WIP, 3PL RAIN, aerospace tool control, item-level retail and more) case studies anonymised by default; references callable with permission.
Specific case studies are anonymised by default. References are callable with permission. See our case studies.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work with SSN and private healthcare networks directly?
Yes, directly with hospital groups and via Italy public procurement routes where they apply. We have experience navigating public healthcare procurement and health-data compliance for connected RTLS systems.
Do you work under Italian public procurement frameworks?
Yes, public and private routes in Italy.
Does Article 4 of the Statuto dei Lavoratori apply to us?
If the system can locate people, or can be used to reconstruct what a worker did, then yes, and it applies even when worker monitoring is not the purpose. The route is a union agreement with the RSU or RSA, or authorisation from the labour inspectorate. We flag this at the scoping stage, because discovering it after a pilot has been running is expensive.
Can you support Italian public-sector procurement?
Yes. We guide on requirements, evaluation criteria and supplier scoring for tenders run through Consip and MePA, and for regional health procurement bodies. We can sit on the buying side without a conflict.
How do you handle CE marking and radio compliance?
RTLS and RFID hardware sold into Italy must carry CE marking under the EU Radio Equipment Directive, and readers must stay inside the ETSI power and duty-cycle limits for the band. We verify both during supplier evaluation in stage 1, because a reader configured for a non-EU power table will pass a demo and fail an audit.
