Asset tracking & utilisation.
Stop sending people to look for kit. Locate any asset, tool, cage or device in seconds on a live map — and see how much of it is actually working versus sitting idle.
Asset tracking & utilisation: how it works, and what it pays back.
The right radio for the job — chosen, never sold — mapped to your use case. That is what makes the ROI fast.
1 · Tag
Assets get a BLE/UWB tag or a passive Passive RFID label, sized to their value and how often you need to find them.
2 · Locate
Anchors or read points fix each tag on your floor plan — searchable by name, type or zone, in real time.
3 · Prove utilisation
Dwell, idle time and movement show what you actually use, so you stop over-renting and over-buying.
Passive RFID → volume · BLE → zone · UWB → precise
Which technology actually fits.
We have no hardware to sell, so the recommendation serves your outcome — not a price book.
BLE 5.x
Cost-effective room/zone location at scale.
UWB
Sub-metre where precision matters.
Passive RFID
Cheapest tag for high-volume items.
Industries this solution suits
From 20-minute hunts to 20-second finds.
A hospital biomed team tags infusion pumps, wheelchairs and monitors. Staff find the nearest free device on a screen instead of walking the ward, and utilisation data reveals the fleet is far larger than it needs to be — so the next purchase is cancelled.
Typically bought by: Operations, biomed / clinical engineering, facilities, finance.
Relevant case studies
Where this solution wins — examples by sector.
Hospital infusion-pumps and ventilators (healthcare)
Capital equipment is over-bought because clinicians can't find free units. BLE-AoA reveals real utilisation — typically 30-50% — and unlocks 15-30% capex reduction.
Forklifts and tugger fleets (manufacturing)
Forklift utilisation visibility lets ops right-size the fleet and pre-empt maintenance, freeing capital and reducing rental costs.
Returnable containers and racks (automotive)
RTI tracking across supplier-OEM loops reduces loss rates from 5-15% to under 2% and frees significant working capital.
Aerospace ground-support equipment (aerospace)
GSE at hangars and on flight-lines costs operators 15-30 min per workforce-hour to locate — RTLS removes that entirely.
High-value tools in defence depots (defence)
Calibrated tools are FOD-critical; loss creates safety risk and audit failure. Passive RFID eliminates loss.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is RTLS asset tracking?
It depends on the technology, and the right level depends on whether you need 'which zone' or 'exact spot'.
Passive RFID confirms presence at read points; BLE gives room or zone level, roughly 3-10 m; UWB gives 10-30 cm real-time position. We match the accuracy to the decision you are trying to make.
Do we have to tag every asset?
No. Start with the assets where loss, search time or low utilisation actually hurt - high-value, mobile or shared equipment. Tag those classes first, prove the return, then expand. A 'tag everything' rollout is rarely the fastest path to payback.
UWB, BLE or RFID - which is right for us?
RFID suits high-volume, low-cost presence checks at choke points; BLE is cost-effective for room or zone tracking of many assets; UWB is for precise, real-time location.
Many sites end up with a hybrid. Because we do not sell hardware, we pick per use case on the evidence of an RF site survey.
How does it integrate with our WMS, ERP or CMMS?
Location and event data flows through standard APIs and MQTT into the systems your teams already use - SAP, your WMS, MES or maintenance system - so assets appear in context, without ripping out existing software.
What is the typical ROI and payback?
The return comes from recovered search time, fewer lost assets and rentals, and higher utilisation, so you buy or rent less. Most asset-tracking cases pay back within months - we model your specific numbers before you commit to anything.
