RTLS & RFID training: build the team that runs it after we leave.Who runs the tracking system after the integrator leaves?

RTLS training and RFID training certification for ops and IT/OT: how the system fails on your floor, not slide-deck theatre. Independent curricula.

Where programmes stall

Training fails when certificates are filed and the floor never changes how it works.

Role-based paths

Architects, installers and operators need different labs. One generic slide deck trains nobody.

Assess on the live floor

Sign-off on a demo hall does not transfer to metal racks and night shift. Assess in the real RF.

Refresh cadence

Firmware and process drift. Budget annual refresh tied to change control, not a one-off course.

Why internal teams stall

Three gaps that supplier decks won’t close.

We hear the same three reasons internal teams can’t carry the programme on their own. Structured, independent training closes each.

Supplier training only covers their product

The reader OEM teaches their readers. The platform OEM teaches their console. Neither teaches the architectural decision tree, the trade-offs between technologies, or how to spec a competitive RFP. The team can operate, but not design.

New hires don’t have an on-ramp

A new engineer joins the RTLS programme and is handed a wiki, a Slack channel, and the expectation they will catch up by osmosis. Six months in, they still ask the senior engineer questions a structured curriculum would have answered in week two.

Procurement doesn’t know what they’re buying

The procurement lead negotiates a multi-million euro RTLS platform contract without knowing what a meaningful SLA looks like, what an anchor density spec should contain, or how to compare supplier responses on technical merit.

The course catalogue

Six structured curricula. Modular. Independent.

Every course is built around decisions an enterprise team has to make, not features of a specific product. Materials, slides, and lab exercises are yours to keep.

01 · EXECUTIVE PRIMER

RTLS & RFID for senior leadership

Half-day, decision-makers. Use-case framing, supplier market, capital-vs-opex framing, programme governance.

02 · ARCHITECT INTENSIVE

RTLS Architect, 4 days

Full technology decision tree, anchor planning, integration architecture, RF survey methodology, hands-on labs.

03 · RFID FUNDAMENTALS

Passive RFID for operations & IT

2 days. Tag selection, reader configuration, antenna design, integration patterns.

04 · VDA 5050

Fleet orchestration design, 2 days

VDA 5050 v2 in depth, traffic management, integration with WMS/MES, simulation tools.

05 · OT CYBER

Cybersecurity for RTLS & IoT, 1 day

IEC 62443 framing, zoning, identity, remote access for industrial networks.

06 · CUSTOM

Custom curriculum, on demand

Built to your stack, your vertical, your team’s gaps. Typical 2-3 days.

Engagement model

Three ways to bring us in.

From a single cohort to an annual training partnership covering refresh sessions and a certification track.

1

On-site cohort · half-day to 4 days

Single team, single location. Scoped per project.

2

Remote cohort · 4-8 weeks part-time

Spread across weekly sessions; less disruption.

3

Annual training partnership

Multiple cohorts per year, refresh sessions, certification track.

After the call, you get a written proposal with the price.

Thirty minutes on the team, the gaps, and the right curriculum. We will recommend a single cohort, a remote programme, or an annual partnership, and what each costs. No obligation. We don't sell hardware, so our advice stays independent.

Competitors

Who else trains RTLS and RFID teams and what they leave out.

Most teams get trained by the hardware supplier that won the RFP. That curriculum is competent on their readers, anchors and console, and silent on the architectural decision tree that chose those devices in the first place. RFID4U and the RFID Professional Institute cover multi-supplier Passive RFID well, and IEEE conference courses give a useful one-day snapshot. What they rarely cover is the full locating stack: UWB vs BLE-AoA vs RAIN vs LoRaWAN trade-offs, RF survey methodology that survives a live shift, MES/WMS/EMR integration patterns, and IEC 62443 zoning for the same estate.

Supplier academies (Sensolus, Sewio, Quuppa, Impinj partner tracks and similar) certify partners to sell and support a catalogue. Useful if you have already locked the stack. Dangerous if your IT/OT team still has to write the next RFP, challenge a Locator density quote, or keep accuracy after the integrator leaves.

What programmes get wrong: treating supplier product training as programme capability. Operators learn the UI; nobody owns the accuracy KPI, the tag lifecycle, or the change-control process when the floor layout moves. Certificates get filed; the floor never changes how it works.

TRACIO curricula are independent by design: RTLS Architect, Passive RFID for operations, OT cybersecurity for locating systems, leadership primers and certification tracks. Materials stay yours to adapt and re-deliver. The lab exercises do not tilt toward a catalogue. Pair training with managed services when you want the same team keeping the system accurate after go-live.
